Day 11 of my 30 paintings in 30 days of November.
I tried out some different paper today, a cold-pressed watercolor paper, stretched and with my usual primers. I didn't much like it. I think I need a smooth, hot-pressed paper to use the primers with. I was struggling through the entire painting against those little bumps, and the paper seemed to suck up the primer without leaving any of the brushstroke texture that I'm used to.
This experimentation was prompted by some great news that I'll share tomorrow, assuming I can get a painting done that I like.
