Truffle won't be in the auctions, as she's already framed. I had her at the Rockport Art Fest, but no-one bought her yet...

Crispin

"Crispin"  (pastel, 7x5 inches)

All right, I couldn't bring myself to give this one a beef name. He's just too cute. This is one of the Belted Galloway (Oreo Cow) calves, a very young one. Of course, in a head shot, you don't get to see the white 'cookie filling'.

Crispin is an English name meaning 'curly-haired.' This one will be with me this weekend at the Rockport Art Fest, July 6-7, 2013.

Little Pink

OK, here's another distraction from the cows for a day. This little lady was from that same petting zoo with all the bunnies! I caught her in the morning, gently backlit by the sun.

This one will be with me at the Rockport Art Fest this weekend. Here she is in the new rustic frame that is one of the latest styles from our frame source..

Sir Loin

Because of my selection of frames, I have to choose a few small paintings to leave at home when I go to Rockport this weekend for the Art Fest. Of my newest batch, "Sir Loin" picked the long straw! Along with "Stew" and "Pot Roast", and "Chuck" (who's already got a bid,) he'll be hanging out in the studio and the DPW auction page. Give him a bid so he won't feel lonely!

Fajita

"Fajita"  (pastel, 7x5 inches)

Getting ready for the Rockport Art Fest (Rockport, Texas) this weekend July 7 & 8. My new dailies this week will be going right into their frames for the art fest instead of to the auction. At least until I run out of 5x7 frames!

Progress shots below! this time I decided to include all the primer steps...

 I use Golden (brand) Fine Pumice Gel with Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold acrylic color added. Since this is transparent, every added layer gets a little darker and richer. Above is with the second layer of gold.

 ...and a 3rd layer of gold...

 Now the terra cotta Art Spectrum Pastel Primer.

 Lastly, the black Art Spectrum Pastel Primer (shown with photo) And it's ready for the pastel!

 Starting with the Terry Ludwig Eggplant - my essential black!
