The heat was palpable, shimmering in the air. The silence was eerie on the empty road.

Here I tried the shimmering, disappearing road phenomenon in pastel. It was a challenge, but worth the effort!

This was approaching Manns Harbor Bridge to Roanoke Island in North Carolina. There were some incredible thunderheads developing over the outer banks.
