"Berries for Breakfast" (oil, 6x6 inches) sold
I don't know why, but I've always had a fascination with the blackbirds and grackles that hang out in parking lots looking for crumbs and handouts. I also love seeing them massed in the tops of the trees on a cold winter morning. There's something elegant in a being that has remained unchanged since Egyptian days.
This one's my favorite so far - I think I'm getting the hang of this oil paint!
You definitely have the hang of oils!! Beautiful colors in this bird!
ReplyDeleteGreat composition, Rita!!! Wow. And those feathers. Man.
ReplyDeleteYou painted a truly beautiful bird! I chose this as my favorite painting on my blog, rosaspicks.wordpress.com. I hope you'll come by and check it out! Thanks, Rosa
ReplyDeleteHi Rita,
ReplyDeleteI also love "black" birds. There is something primal about them, and somewhat melancholy like in an Edgar Allen Poe story...fascinating is right. Thanks for painting him. I also love your koi, having had 2 ponds at one time with butterfly and traditional koi.
I love grackles, too. I'm sure I would feel differently if I lived in the city. We only have a few and they are beautiful, especially the males.
ReplyDeleteI love your work and this painting is an absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteChecking out your work for the first time. I really like this one. I can see why it's your favorite.
