2 New Animal Portraits

I always get crankin' with some new 5x7 cow portraits (my best sellers) before a good art fair. Occasionally I have to throw in a few 'other' animals, just to keep it interesting.
Here's "Darling" (pastel, 4x6) sold
and "Dilly" (pastel 4x6)   sold
I'll have them this weekend at the Dallas Arboretum for the Artscape Fine Art Fair

"Rusty" new Oil Painting

Here's my first successful oil painting since the Carol Marine workshop. "Rusty" (oil, 8x8) is my first step in creating an oil painting inventory that I can someday take to art fairs as I do my pastels. (Unless they all sell first!) sold

"Little Miss Cryer" latest 8x6 portrait

Here's the last addition to my Renaissance portrait series "Little Miss Cryer" (8x6 pastel) I loved this youngster's unguarded expression as she called to her brother.

Rockdale Workshop

My workshop in Rockdale was an unqualified success! I had 9 very talented ladies; a perfect number for my first workshop. The group was large enough to be gratifying, but small enough not to overwhelm. All the ladies were attentive and receptive to the information I tossed at them, and had intelligent questions that moved the flow of discussions along smoothly and made the time fly by!
The workshop organizers and the Rockdale Chamber were thrilled to hear rave reviews from the workshop attendees, and are eager to have me back for another (possible 2-day) workshop in the near future.

I wish I had gotten a group shot at the end, but time flew by so fast I didn't think about those things until afterward. Thank you to Vicki for getting these shots of me demoing!

Wimberley Arts Fest 2011 - Poster Image

A painting of mine from a couple years ago, "Conversation" (pastel 24x20,) has won the poster contest for the Wimberley Arts Fest this year. The poster will be designed by the Wimberley Valley Art league's graphic designer. I'll post it when it's available! The Art fair will be April 30, 2011, in Wimberley, TX.
The original "Conversation" is still available, and I'll have it at the Fest!

My Entry for IAPS Master Circle Exhibit

Here is "Red Robin" (pastel 8x6 inches,) my entry for the International Association of Pastel Societies first Master Circle Exhibition. Each artist with Master Circle status, including those inducted during this year's convention, can enter one piece. The show will be simultaneous with the 18th IAPS Juried Exhibition, showing during the convention in Albuquerque, NM, June 1-5, 2011.

I was chosen to be one of 3 jurors of selection for the Juried Exhibit this year, which I'm terribly excited about! The jurying will begin in early April.

I'll also have a piece in the 'secret silent auction', showing in the same gallery during the convention, which will be a number of un-signed small paintings by selected pastel artists. The bidders will have the luxury of bidding on the basis of the art, and not the artist. On top of that, it will be great fun to view the works and try to guess "who done it?"

needless to say, I will NOT be posting my silent auction entry for this one! You'll have to see the show and try to guess!
