Fuzzy Jenny (Warm Fuzzy #73)

Warm Fuzzy #73 - "Fuzzy Jenny" (pastel, 12x6 inches) buy here

I painted this adorable baby donkey a few years ago ("Fuzz") but thought she deserved another go!

This time she was my subject for a demo for the Arizona Pastel Artists Association. They have the zoom video link on their website; check this page under Pastel Demonstrations and Presentations. I hadn't quite finished the demo at the time, so I finished at one of my Virtual Open Studio days, and will be sending that video to the APAA. They might put it up on their site too!

I just love my job, painting cute fuzzy animals! 😁

Day 16 - Don Keysborough

"Don Keysborough" (pastel, 12x9 inches) on hold

Day 16 of my 31-in-31 of January 2020!

This one was a request for a 12x9 donkey of my choice. I love my clients!

Don Keysborogh is the latest in my "Don Key___" series, and happens to be named after a town in Australia, east of Melbourne.

Ezra (and the South Dakota workshop)

"Ezra" (pastel, 12x12 inches) sold

This sun-touched donkey was my opening demo for my workshop last month at the Abbey of the Hills in South Dakota.

This was as far as the morning demo got, then I finished Ezra (named by her buyer, one of my students) later in the week.

Here's my fantastic talented group of students. It was a great time and I hope to arrange another 5-day Pastel Workshop Retreat at the Abbey again in a year or two!

Burro Confidential

"Burro Confidential" (pastel, 13.5 x 13.5 inches) $625 unframed for a limited time.

Happy Spring, y'all! Happy Easter!

This was a demo I started last weekend at the Carriage House Gallery in Boerne TX, and recently finished in my studio. I had the drawing down long before that and finally dug it out to paint! These are a couple of donkeys I met near Marble Falls a few years ago, and I composed this gossipy pose with two pics in Photoshop.

If this is still available in a week or so it will be framed and taken with me to the Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson TX (near Dallas) the first weekend of May.

Donna Kia

"Donna Kia" (pastel, 12x6 inches) $400 framed

I'm finally back to some inventory boosting after several weeks of commission jobs. I do enjoy commissions, but there's something to be said for not having to answer to anyone's expectations but my own! (And then I can never post the commission results until after the gifts are given ...but I want to post them NOW! So the finish is sometimes anticlimactic... )

Donna Kia will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival in Downtown Houston, Octover 13-14, 2018. Come on out and enjoy the weekend! Find me in booth #350 on McKinley Street with many of my summer paintings!

Here are progress shots of Donna Kia:

Fuzzy D - day 28

"Fuzzy D" (pastel, 12x6 inches)  click here to bid or buy

Day 28 of my 30-paintings-in-30-days of November.

I love it when I find a painting almost done on top of some boxes in my garage where I had put it after unloading from the last art fair. This one was a 'demo' I had started at the Bayou City Art Fest in October... Well, now it's good for "day 28"!

My booth
There it is, way over on the left...

Henry

"Henry" (pastel, 7x5 inches) sold

Henry is another of the three consecutive demos from the Milwaukee workshop. I underpainted all three of them simultaneously as a demo on Sunday morning, then painted (pasteled) them in a row on Monday.

Here are some shots of the underpainting "assembly line" demo, and a couple closeups of Henry. I didn't get shots of the pastel part. I'll post the little Hereford calf soon!
