Ranch Road #19

"Ranch Road #19"  (pastel, 6x6 inches)  click here to bid

Wonderful workshop in Kansas over the weekend! Got home last night. I don't know where today went except I had another demo in San Antonio this evening and coming home there was road construction! Highway SINGLE LANE! Ugh.
It's way past my bedtime.
Here's my lone landscape from the weekend to tide you over. Hopefully tomorrow will give me more time on the computer.

Ranch Road 18

"Ranch Road 18" (pastel over oil wash, 8x10 inches)  click here to bid

Being finished (I hope) with a large portrait commission which appropriated the month of January, I've finally got a chance to start painting 'dailies' again. So I worked on some underpaintings earlier this week, getting myself back in the swing and ready for my workshop coming up in March.

Below is a shot of a few of the underpaintings I did in oil. You can see today's painting in the middle.

Speaking of my workshop, there are still spaces left for "Underpainting the Pastel Landscape" March 2-3, in Rockdale, TX. Click here for more info and registration form or register online here.

Road Sketch 14

"Road Sketch 14" (3.5 x 5.5 in., watercolor)

The fog would hang over the mountainside, and we'd drift in and out of it as the road wound up and down.
Available at Cactus Jack's in Gruene, Texas.

Road Sketch 12

"Road Sketch 12" (3.5 x 5.5 in., watercolor)   sold

With my last few paintings before my trip, I decided to commemorate one of my favorite drives, and one that unfortunately I won't be able to take again this year - that is Highway 1, up the California coast! These memories are even more precious because my data card was defective on that trip and scrambled 90% of the images! The next few paintings are from the photos I still have from that drive.

Ranch Road 17

"Ranch Road 17" (pastel 9x12in)   sold

Here's another from the Richard McKinley workshop. This one had a watercolor underpainting. (I like the splotchy foreground!)
