"Willie" (pastel, 7x5 inches) sold
Day 9 in my 30-Paintings-in-30-Days of November.
This handsome fellow is a retired police dog.
I used the gold and terra cotta primers, then a black primer for the underpainting of the dog's fur.
Because of the small size, I did start the drawing with pastel pencils, to establish good detail in the features. Then finished with mostly hard pastels.
(The color variance in this last shot is because this is the scanned image of the completed painting. the "almost done" shot just above it was photographed with my camera.)
