Day 7 of 30 paintings - Hank, Honey, Louie, Butters and Poppy, in the Lavender

Day 7 of 30 paintings - "Hank, Honey, Louie, Butters and Poppy, in the Lavender" (conte and pastel pencil, 10x30 inches) sold
I'm counting this among my 30 paintings/drawings of June, because I did finish it in June, it hasn't been posted before, and darn it, it's hard to paint every day and I need the post!
This was from separate photos of my client's daughter's animals and she also has a lavender farm. My client originally asked about pastel, but from photos that have such varied and ambient light, I prefer to stick to black & white drawings. So I will actually down-grade a recommendation to a lower-priced product if I feel that all of the references will not translate well to pastel.

And by the way, in case you missed this message earlier, I need to tell you something!

Day 6 of 30 - Lily

Day 6 of 30 paintings - "Lily" (pastel, 10x10 inches) sold
This was a recent cat commission. Lily was a beloved cat who liked to style her human's hair at the computer desk.

Day 5 of 30 - Life drawing with the NODG

"Shadiya in the Mirror" (pastel pencil and pastel, 12x16 inches)

I was honored to be the guest artist at the New Orleans Drawing Group on Thursday evening, to have a Q&A after the drawing session. I was not required to draw, but I decided what the heck why not? It had been a VEERRY long time since I had done any life drawing so I thought it would be good for me.

I'm so glad I did! The model for the evening, Shadiyah Curione, had very imaginative and challenging poses. The long pose is above. I had to go in for dinner for most of it, but I caught the first 20 minutes and the last 15 or so. So this drawing took about 35 minutes. The light was from a candle near the hand mirror on the table (not drawn) The light was so amazing, it was hard to do it justice.

See more of the other artists' paintings and drawings of Shadiyah on the NODG Facebook group page

Below (cringe) are my 1-minute (marker on smooth paper) and 5-minute (roll-point pen on sketch paper) drawings. I really needed the warm-up!

Day 4 of 30 - Sun Candy

Day 4 of 30 paintings in June - "Sun Candy" (pastel, 10x10 inches) bid or buy here

This was another underpainting that I had done a while back. As I pasteled this sheep, the colors I was using (and the fluffiness) reminded me of cotton candy, but sunlit!

Watch a little speed video here!

Day 3 of 30 - Blue Belle

Day 3 of 30 - "Blue Belle" (pastel, 8x6 inches) click here to bid or buy!

My 3rd painting for June! I actually painted this cow along side the bunny of yesterday, finishing both underpaintings (the blue part) and then pasteling them both at the same time, with many of the same colors!

Click here to view a gif timelapse and progress pics of the painting!

Day 2 of 30 - Plum Bunny

"Plum Bunny" (pastel, 10x10 inches) bid or buy

Day 2 of my 30-in-30 paintings for June! I did have this one underpainted already, but that's ok. I'm catching up with a few "leftover" paintings that are laying around my studio before starting in on a new batch of underpaintings ... maybe I'll do underpaintings for my next Virtual Open Studio day on Friday...

See some progress pics of this bunny HERE!
