Eight or Nine Sheep
"Eight or Nine Sheep" (pastel, 15x30 inches) $1800 framed
Eight or Nine Sheep is my personal sequel to Four and a Half Sheep, which I painted in 2012 from the same reference photo, cropped differently and flipped. I've always liked the photo and decided it was time for another version.
Eight or Nine Sheep will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival this weekend, March 23-25, 2018. Come on out and enjoy the awesome art, music and food!
My daughter put together a speed video of the underpainting, which was almost half the painting job! Watch it here!
I did get some video of the pastel part, but the camera fell asleep before the end... We're going to see if it's enough for another video. Stay tuned to my channel!
Meanwhile, here are some still shots:
Thanks for watching! Please share if you like it!

Springtime
"Springtime" (pastel, 22x10 inches) $880 framed
This cutie little newborn is the second painting from a friend's donated photo (Thanks Pam!). I painted this young fawn in 2015 ("A New Day", 20x10) and I new I had to make use of this adorable reference again some time!
"Springtime" will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival this weekend, March 23-25, 2018. Hope to see you there!

Angus in the Morning
"Angus in the Morning" (pastel, 20x16 inches) $1280 framed
This Angus mother and child were by the roadside just after sunrise one morning on my way in to my workshop in Valentine, Nebraska a couple years ago. There's only one paved road in that town, but the scenery is remarkable! I had to give myself extra time each day for photo stops!
These Angus will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival March 23-25, 2018. Things are coming together and I'm starting to get excited! Come on out to the festival and support the Houston economy (and the artists!)
I did this underpainting a little bit differently; jumping to the black before the terra cotta. No rules! Just get the values right!
Thanks for watching! Please share if you like my work!

JavaBun
It's been the bunnies for a couple of days, finally coming to the top of the to-do list! I'm rather proud of my lost edges on this one.
JavaBun will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival March 23-25, 2018, unless he sells first. ;)

Reece
"Reece" (pastel, 12x12 inches) sold
In my increasingly complex title search, I learned that Hereford cattle are partially descended from a Welsh breed. Reece is a popular Welsh surname, so...
But I think she looks like a Reece. Reece will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival March 23-25, 2018, unless she sells first.
