I'm excited to brag that my most recent sheep painting won the Jack Richeson & Company Award at the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod juried exhibition 2020 For Pastels Only.

Connection Timed Out - in China Exhibit!

"Connection Timed Out" (pastel, 16x30 inches) $2500

Two wooly sheep, standing together, yet separate. As I was composing this scene from some favorite sheep photos, my computer was giving me problems, hence the composition and title idea. On a larger scale, this could represent interpersonal or even global communication issues.

This painting will be part of the 5th International Zhuhai Shutong Pastel Invitational Exhibition, at the Zhuhai Cultural Centre, Zhuhai City, PR China, November 23 - December, 2019.

Deep Sheep going to NYC!

"Deep Sheep" (pastel, 28x25 inches) $2800

I've posted this one before but just have to brag that it's been accepted into the IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies) 28th Juried exhibition, to be hosted at the historic Salmagundi Club in New York City! The show dates will be from June 6th to17th, 2016. The awards reception is Thursday June 9th, 6-8pm, and several other events (tours, a demo, and a brunch) will be happening throughout the exhibit dates.
Keep an eye on the IAPS site for upcoming details!

What do I post when there's no time to paint? I find something that sold before I could post it! This is from my last busy batch in July. I painted it for a new friend I met at IAPS who loves my sheep paintings and who generously shared her rented house with me during the convention in June.

Counting Sheep

"Counting Sheep" (pastel, 32x32 inches)  $4100

Whew! I was at this one all day Friday and most of Thursday. This is the last large work I needed for my show Beauty of the Beast at the Rockport Center for the Arts in Rockport, TX. I deliver 30+ works of art tomorrow! Reception and Gallery Talk is May 16 at 4:30.

I have to get this over to my framer this morning, so I'll keep this short.

This grayscale version was quite helpful when layering up the primers!
