She was always awkward in family photos (my latest sheep painting!)

"She was always awkward in family photos" (pastel, 30x30 inches) $4500

This painting had been in the works since April after my two other large sheep paintings sold from my solo show! I guess I might become known as the "sheep lady" instead of the "cow lady" lol!

Watch a 5 minute speed demo of this painting Here! It includes a short intro explaining my thought process for the composition and how I made it. Some closeup details also in that link!

Warm Fuzzy #23 - Violet

Warm Fuzzy #23 - "Violet" (pastel, 6x6 inches) click here to bid or buy

This sweet baby lamb was a cousin or some such to "Baaabee" the little black lamb from a couple weeks ago. I don't know what kind of sheep they were, but the herd had mostly white mamas and quite a large number of black lambs. Some of the lighter lambs had some variations of grays in their wool. Almost silvery and quite pretty!

This wooly ewe was one of a herd I caught some pics of last month near Fredericksburg. I had a great weekend driving around looking for reference material in between plein air painting stops.

Lady Coco

Painting 2 of my "21-in-31" of March...

I've spent the last five or six Novembers doing what is called in the Daily Painting world a "30-in-30" (30 paintings in the month - one for each day.) My schedule having kept me out of my studio almost since, well, last November, I really want to do a 31-in-31 this month, my first non-November month in many years, But reality and common sense has me modifying my goal to a 21-in-31, which still sounds kinda cool and catchy, and will hopefully give me a few extra days to maybe work on some larger paintings for the Bayou City Art Fest coming up at the end of the month.

So, to give myself a jump-start, I finished up some of January's batch of under-paintings while I was at the Rodeo last month and saved them to include in my March 21-in-31. Honest, that's not cheating! ;) In art, there are no rules!

And since Persephone was posted yesterday, this is my second painting for March!

Here are some progress shots for you:

"Ewe" (pastel, 6x4 inches) click here to bid or buy

Day 23 of my 30 Paintings in 30 Days of November!

I saw this ewe on one of my last trips. I hadn't seen such a lovely black face pattern. She looks like she's wearing a woolly hoodie.

Day 4 - Dot

"Dot" (pastel, 8x6 inches) click here to bid or buy

This adorable black head lamb looks to me like her head is one big dot! I'm not sure what breed this is; maybe a Blackhead Persian or a Black Headed Dorper. (I just learned those names from Google!) But I'm pretty sure she is one of the precious babies of Fry's Fun Farm from a few years back.

Thanks for watching! And in case you missed it, I want to let you know about my first scheduled 5-day inclusive workshop, at this fabulous location in the center of North America!
