If you haven't noticed, I've been naming the donkeys with the sound of "don-key" starting the name. I might have pushed it a bit on this one, but he does look curious!

This one may be slated for my show Beauty of the Beast at the Rockport Center for the Arts (May 14 - June 13, 2015) if he lasts long enough!

On another note, I have exciting news! My work was recently chosen for the cover of the Special Pastel Issue of the popular french art magazine Pratique des Arts! With a little help from Google Translate, I ordered some extra copies from their ordering page, and they arrived at my door a couple days ago!

That's my work in the center spread, accompanied by a very nice article (which I haven't deciphered yet) titled Beautiful Beasts.  ...Très approprié for my upcoming show, and showing "Bull Profile #1", which will be included!

Life interrupted my painting today, so I'm going to take this opportunity to brag about my inclusion in Carol Marine's new book Daily Painting: Paint Small and Often To Become a More Creative, Productive, and Successful Artist.

I was so excited and honored when Carol contacted me about including one of my paintings! The book is now available (and has been for a few weeks now - I'm a little late with the brag!) on Amazon and several other book outlets. My painting "Bun" (from 2013) is on page 42, in the section on animal art...

 I highly recommend this book, to all artists of all genre, mediums and styles! It should be a staple book in every art library!

Familial Bliss in Southwest Art Magazine

Here's my other painting in Southwest Art this January 2014 issue! This one I submitted for my half-page paid advertisement that was part of the 'deal' for the half-page editorial and publishing of the award-winner "4 And a Half Sheep". But hey, it was a two-for-one at a really good price!

'Ian at Breakfast' in Strokes of Genius 6

 I'm pleased to announce that this portrait will be included in North Light Books "Strokes of Genius, Vol. 6" which will be published in October 2014!

This is my one portrait of my son by himself, which I did as an answer to his question one day "Hey, Ma, how come you always draw Audrey?" (who I've painted no less than 5 times.) I said "Well, it's a matter of photogenics..."

So I searched through my family photo files and found this one from when he was still young enough to not be self-conscious or deliberately silly in front of a camera. I remember when I took the photo; it was definitely the light that caught me, and I may have thought even then that I would paint this scene.

Ian, who now goes by Robert, is 16 this year. When I told him of this recognition gained by his portrait, he said "Show me." and then nodded and said "Hmm."

I think that means he's pleased.
