The cooler days put me in mind of ... squirrels.

 I decided here that I didn't like my decision for a lighter background...

 So I brushed it off...  and added some terra cotta (Art Spectrum) pastel primer...

Disregard the color variances on these progress shots - I worked into the evening, and my camera metering gets weird under just the studio lights. The top (final) image was scanned and is accurate!

Today's sidewalk sale in downtown New Braunfels was quite nice! It never rained, and I got rid of almost all of my large stretched canvas giclees and a handful of other stuff. Not to mention I completed 2 more 'dailies' for my month of 30 paintings!

I got into the zone when paintings this cute little donkey, so I only have two shots, one from the start and one from the finish. Nothing worth posting I thought. ...Ok, well here they are anyway:

On another note, tomorrow (Thursday, Nov 5) is the bi-annual Downtown New Braunfels sidewalk sale. If you're in the area, come by and browse the town!

With a table in front of the Art League, I'll have tons of stuff that I'm seriously ready to move!! Slightly old (and older) original artwork (framed and unframed), pastel drawings, photo prints, large canvas giclee prints (some rolled and some stretched), all limited edition prints marked half-off, and more! I do not want to take anything back to my studio (that is finally starting to look neat and tidy) so I can't even tell you the kinds of deals you can find tomorrow except to say that you don't want to miss it!

As an added incentive, I will be donating 50% of my sales to the Art League, which has been having a rough year so far. (The League normally takes only 10% of the sidewalk sale purchases - I'll be donating an additional 40%.) Come on over and help out by shopping! :)

Zenith - day 3

Day 3 of my 30 paintings in 30 days of November!

This dear little deer was hanging out in a friend's neighborhood near Fredericksburg, Texas a few weeks ago.

Here are some progress shots:

And... since you scrolled all the way though my post, you get to see my new work station, which is not really new, but just cleaned up and moved to the northwest corner of my studio. Now I don't have a window right behind my easel messing with my eyes on bright days, and the north light can come in from the right and help light my work during the daytime!

 And yes, ok, one part is new... my iPad holder that clamps to my table. I browsed all the options on Amazon and picked this one. So far it's working nicely! Thanks to Barbara Jaenicke who had a tripod mount for her iPad at her recent workshop in San Antonio, which made me realize I could stop hanging mine on my drawing board (this will be really convenient for the large paintings when I don't use a drawing board!)

So where's the rest of the studio, you ask? No. You don't get to see that yet. It's still not done.

Good thing I got this one done on Saturday with "Mambo", because today was a mop-the-floor, clean-the-pantry, bait-the-ants, grocery-shop, pick-up-the-kids, cook-dinner-and-bake-a-cake-for-my-son's-18th, no-time-to-paint day.
